Writing can feel overwhelming—whether a student is struggling with an English assignment, working to become a stronger writer, or trying to tell their story in a personal statement. I provide individualized, one-on-one instruction designed to meet students where they are and help them move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and independence.
All sessions are conducted online.
ELA Tutoring & Academic Writing
For high school, college, and graduate students
Individualized support for students working on English coursework and academic writing. Sessions are tailored to each student's needs and may focus on a particular assignment or on skills that will transfer to future work.
Areas of support may include:
Essay planning and organization
Thesis statements and argument development
Literary analysis
Research papers
Using and integrating textual evidence
Paragraph development and transition
Revision strategies
Grammar, sentence structure, and clarity
Reading comprehension and textual analysis
MLA formatting and source integration
Students are encouraged to bring assignments, drafts, instructor feedback, rubrics, and other relevant course materials to the session.
Writing Development
For students who want to become stronger, more independent writers
Writing Development is designed for students who need more than help with a single assignment. Over four sessions, we identify the student's individual strengths and challenges and focus on the skills that will have the greatest impact on their writing.
Depending on the student, we may work on:
Developing and sustaining a clear central idea
Organizing ideas effectively
Building stronger paragraphs
Using evidence thoughtfully
Developing analysis
Improving sentence clarity and style
Revising with purpose
Developing a more effective writing process
The goal is not simply to improve one paper. It is to help students understand their own writing and develop strategies they can use independently in future assignments.
Individual Session -$110
One 60-minute session focused on the student's current needs.
4-Session Package — $400
Four 60-minute sessions for students who would benefit from ongoing support with coursework and academic writing.
Personal Statements & Application Essays
For undergraduate and graduate applicants
Personal statements and application essays require writers to do something very different from most academic assignments: communicate something meaningful about themselves within a limited amount of space.
I work one-on-one with students on the writing involved in this process—from generating ideas and finding a focus to developing structure, strengthening voice, and revising a final draft. My role is to help students discover what they want to say and how best to say it. Students remain the authors of their work, and the finished essay should sound authentically like them.
Individual Application Essay Session — $175
One 60-minute session for focused help with brainstorming, developing an idea, reviewing a draft, or working through a particular revision challenge.
Best for: Students who need targeted help at one stage of the writing process.
Draft-to-Final Package — $350
For students who already have a substantive first draft.
Two 60-minute one-on-one sessions focused on developing an existing personal statement or application essay into a stronger final piece.
Includes:
Two 60-minute sessions
Review and discussion of the student's existing draft
Guidance on focus, organization, development, and voice
A clear revision plan following the first session
Review of one revised draft between sessions
Best for: Students who have already chosen a topic and produced a substantive first draft but would benefit from expert guidance through the revision process.
Personal Statement Package — $650
For students who want support throughout the writing process.
Includes:
Four 60-minute one-on-one sessions
Brainstorming and topic development
Identifying and developing a meaningful focus
Organization and structure
Development of voice and narrative
Revision guidance
Written review of up to two drafts between sessions
Best for: Students who are beginning the process or who want sustained support from initial ideas through final revision.
Personal Statement + Supplemental Essays — $995
For students completing a primary personal statement along with multiple supplemental essays.
Includes:
Six 60-minute one-on-one sessions
Support from brainstorming through final revision
One primary personal statement
Up to four supplemental essays
Written feedback on drafts during the coaching process
Best for: Students who want writing support across multiple components of an application.

How I Work
My approach is collaborative and instructional. I don't simply correct a student's paper and hand it back. Instead, we look at the writing together. I ask questions, identify patterns, explain why something is or isn't working, and help the student make informed decisions about revision. Students remain the authors of their work. I provide instruction, feedback, and guidance while helping them develop the skills to make their own writing decisions. The goal is always twofold: to strengthen the writing in front of us and to help the student become a stronger, more confident, and more independent writer.

Payment Details
Payment for an individual session is due at the time of booking. Payment for a package is due before the first scheduled session. For packages of $650 or more, a two-payment option is available upon request. Sessions are confirmed once payment has been received.
